If you thought Torchwood one and two were loads of good viewing then this new release will be pleasing to your eyes. To label Torchwood Series 3 DVD as better is possibly an understatement. It is considerably different in quite a few ways. These touches make it more viewable and more likable to many fans. First there are only 5 episodes instead of 12 as in the other series. This is due to the way the BBC ran it, on every night for a week instead of one day a week for a few months. This mega series event format really worked for this particular show plus in other incarnations of Torchwood, there was a mix of politics, sci-fi, thriller and suspense. It was good and suspenseful, but with a twist of humor that put it on the lighter less intense side. Torchwood Children of Earth on DVD is much more psychologically twisted with dark and emotional moments that make it the perfect adult show. Torchwood really takes on a life of its own in this nightmare on film, which is much more deep and sadistic than any Torchwood before this and it must be said that this is by far the best one yet. It is intense to watch the Torchwood crew as they go through these 5 days of life. Kind of along the lines of 24 as each episode is really supposed to represent one days time. When considering the Torchwood series in its entirety number 3 comes out on top. Although it did get it’s beginning on Dr. Who, it has grown into its own complete being. It probably has come too far to be even considered a spin off because it has come into its own. With its own fan base separate from the Dr. Who bunch. By far the best sci-fi for 2009 this one tops the charts. It is so much better than one and two, you will be pleasantly surprised and amazed at how this series has really taken on a tone of darkness that leaves you wondering what Series 4 will bring to the Torchwood Crew.

Torchwood Children of Earth DVD-Series 3: Tone Of Darkness With A Twist Of Humor
December 31st, 2009Torchwood Children of Earth DVD-Series 3: A Tone of Darkness
December 29th, 2009Torchwood one and two were good, but I have by far enjoyed the Torchwood Children of Earth DVD the best. This third in the series is a pleasant surprise. Not that the first two weren’t worth seeing, they definitely were. In the Torchwood Series 3 DVD, there were some significant differences to the first two. Torchwood one and two had a total of 12 episode to see. This new one only has five. BBC had it on night after night for a week. As opposed to the regular once weekly showing that continued for several months. It played out like super series release and it seemed to fit the show appropriately. The other common aspects of in these two are the thrills and suspense that are packed in with politics and science fiction. There were also some humorous moments that made you laugh in between all that drama. The way Torchwood Children of Earth on DVD turns and squirms with the psychological depth that it has will grip you. There is a darkness and a fascination in agony within this, going deeper than the ones before. The five days in the life of the gang exposed here will keep you stuck to the screen waiting for the next shock. Its kind of like the “24″ series in that day to day sort of telling. These different aspects make it a favorite by far. This Torchwood Series 3 is so much cooler than what was originally created on the Dr. Who show. It is a whole new animal with very clear lines of its boundaries that separate it from the Dr. Who mentality. If you really are a Torchwood fan then this is going to thrill you. By far the best sci-fi for 2009 this one tops the charts. It is so much better than one and two, you will be pleasantly surprised and amazed at how this series has really taken on a tone of darkness that leaves you wondering what Series 4 will bring to the Torchwood Crew.
